KAC Selected to Partner with the L.A County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to Facilitate Grassroots Community Meeting for Vote Center Placement Project
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
Los Angeles, CA – KAC was selected to partner with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) to facilitate and host the Grassroots Community Meetings regarding the Vote Center Placement Project (VCPP). In 2020, Los Angeles County will transition from traditional polling places to vote centers. This new model will allow voters to cast a ballot at any vote center location in the County over an 11-day period. KAC is excited to partner with L.A County and is honored to represent the voting needs and preferences of the Korean American community.
The Vote Center Placement Project's core mission is to identify and place accessible and convenient vote center locations throughout Los Angeles County. VCPP emphasized that by using community outreach methods the county will analyze voter preferences that directly represent the needs of each community. During this process, KAC will be dedicated to accurately depicting the voter preferences of the Korean American community through our grassroots community outreach methods.
LA County’s voting system has been the same since the 1960’s and the outdated system lacks flexibility and adaptability. The modernized ballot marking device features touch-screen technology with a simple user interface, both audio and visual output and a built-in scanner, printer and ballot box. The touch display also includes a language selection system that gives voters the choice to vote in 13 different languages, Korean being one of them. Once again, KAC is enthusiastic about our partnership with the L.A County RR/CC, during this process KAC will update our community regarding our own grassroots community meeting where VCPP can receive the valued perspective of the Korean American community regarding vote center placement.
