Los Angeles, CA- The Korean American Coalition (KAC) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles will co-host an End-of Year celebration entitled, “Celebration of Korean American Leadership.” At the event KAC will commemorate 35 years of service to the community by announcing the inaugural Luminary Award in two categories: Individual and Corporate.
Individual KAC Luminary Award Honoree: Min Kim, President and CEO of Open Bank Corporate KAC Luminary Award Honoree: Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP The KAC Luminary Awards celebrate the recipients and their overall betterment of our Korean American community. KAC Luminaries LIGHT the way forward for our community: Leadership, Impact, Generosity, Hope, Tenacity. The event will also be honoring Eunice Hur Song Esq. as she takes on the duties of Executive Director for the Korean American Coalition. Ms. Song will be reiterating her vision for the next chapter of KAC as she will unveil KAC’s priorities for 2019 which include: Civic Engagement, Leadership Development, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. The Celebration of Korean American Leadership will be on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Wilshire Country Club. Imbibements and heavy hors d'oeuvres will be provided, business festive attire is requested. Los Angeles, CA – On December 10, 2018 KAC will facilitate and host a Grassroots Community Meeting regarding the Vote Center Placement Project (VCPP), in association with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC). This meeting will educate our community regarding Los Angeles County’s transition from traditional polling places to vote centers in 2020. This new model will allow voters to cast a ballot at any vote center location in the County over an 11-day period.
The Vote Center Placement Project's core mission is to identify and place accessible and convenient vote center locations throughout Los Angeles County. VCPP emphasized that by using community outreach methods the county will analyze voter preferences that directly represent the needs of each community. During this grassroots community meeting, KAC will be dedicated to receiving our community member’s valued input as to where they would like a vote center to be placed. KAC is excited to partner with L.A County and is honored to represent the voting needs and preferences of the Korean American community. Our meeting is at South Baylo University on December 10, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Snacks, beverages, and small gifts will be provided. |
