Korean American Coalition Condemns President Trump’s Decision to End DACA Los Angeles, CA – On September 5, 2017, President Trump brought an end to DACA, a policy that offered young, undocumented immigrants in the United States a path towards participating in our society. KAC condemns the end of this policy, which reverses a humane approach to the nearly 850,000 young Americans-at-heart who benefited from DACA. KAC calls for members of Congress to come together in the wake of this callous and irresponsible removal of protections for young immigrants who grew up undocumented in this country by no fault of their own. When President Obama introduced DACA, he reminded us, "These are young people who study in our schools, they play in our neighborhoods, they're friends with our kids, they pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper." “We are so much more than a country that defines our neighbors by who they are on paper. The Korean American Coalition will continue to stand with our DREAMers and work with community partners to advocate on their behalf. Members of the House and Senate have the opportunity now to act with urgency and pass legislation to support DACA recipients,” said Joon Bang, KAC Executive Director. KAC encourages our community members to take a stand for DACA by going to www.kacla.org or https://dreamers.fwd.us/call and contacting their representatives. # # # Educate | Embrace | Empower Korean American Coalition-Los Angeles (KAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1983 to promote the civic and civil rights interests of the Korean American community.
