2020-2021 KAC Model United Nations Virtual Program

The Korean American Coalition (KAC) is now taking applications for the 2020-2021 Model United Nations (MUN) Virtual Program. KAC’s top priorities include protecting the health and safety of our students so this year’s KAC MUN Program will be a virtual civic engagement program for middle / high school students in the southern California region due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority will be given towards local applicants.

GENERAL INFORMATION
-This year, KAC MUN Program will be a virtual civic engagement program for middle/high school students.

-The KAC MUN is the longest consecutively running program in the Korean American community.

-Participants will see improvements in public speaking, writing, critical analysis skills, and leadership skills. 


-Previous KAC MUN seniors were accepted into Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Columbia, Amherst, Boston University, Duke, Harvard, Princeton, UC Berkeley, and UCLA. 
​
-Last year, our MUN students brought home over 25 awards competing in top-tier MUN conferences year-round.

​-Online class will be a 2.5 hour session held once a week. 

IMPORTANT DATES:
  • Early Bird Application Deadline: Monday, August 17, 2020
  • Regular Application Deadline: Monday, August 31, 2020
  • Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
  • Acceptances will be announced on Friday, September 11, 2020.
  • Online Student/Parent Orientation: Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

PROGRAM PERIOD:
  • The KAC MUN Virtual Program runs from September to May.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE ?
 
  • Middle and high school students entering grades 8-11 (12th grade students are only eligible to apply if they are returning students).
  • New students with no MUN experience are welcome to apply.

Application & Monthly Fees
  • One-time payment will be collected at the Student/Parent Orientation session: 
    • KAC MUN Program Early Bird Fee: $135 (for applications submitted before August 17)
    • KAC MUN Regular Program Fee:  $150 (for applications submitted after August 17)
  • Monthly Fee: Throughout the year, a $50 fee will be collected on a monthly basis. Additional fees will be applied for attending MUN conferences. 
HOW TO APPLY
Applications are officially closed for the 2020-2021 MUN Program.

1. Complete the 2020-2021 KAC MUN Application.
  • Required Documents: 
    • Updated Transcript​ ​
    • 3 Essay Questions (250-500 words each)

  • Early Bird Application Deadline: August 17, 2020
