In October of 2014, President Obama designated the San Gabriel Mountains, which is part of the Angeles National Forest, as a National Monument (San Gabriel Mountains National Monument). The U.S. Forest Service has drafted a plan for developing San Gabriel Mountains Monument/Forest for public access and recreation, and are asking the Korean American community for recommendations.
On Tuesday, October 25th, 2016, the Korean American Coalition, in partnership with the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (AP3CON), will host a community meeting in Koreatown pertaining to the U.S. Forest Service's draft plan on the Gabriel Mountains National Monument/Forest. The meeting will be conducted in both English and Korean, and it will be a great opportunity for the Korean American community members who enjoy the San Gabriel Mountains to make recommendations on the U.S. Forest Service Draft Plan.
