71st National Liberation Day Commemorative Events

National Korean Liberation Day or 광 복절 is a holiday remembering Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945. As a result, many people worldwide observe this holiday on August 15 by celebrating and honoring Korean culture. Some common Liberation Day traditions include the presentation of the Korean flag, the visiting of historical museums, and the gathering of family and friends. This year in the Los Angeles area, 71st National Liberation Day festivities will be held from August 5 through August 15 and will include different competitions, concerts, classes, and ceremonies for the public. Please join the Korean American Coalition of Los Angeles in celebrating the 71st National Korean Liberation Day.
