As a Census Information Center, KAC uses Census data to advocate for our community.
Census results gives us the tools to understand our community better. KAC uses Census data to identify income and educational disparities, advocate for our needs, and showcase the contributions of Koreans and Korean Americans. Started in 1988, the Census Information Center (CIC) Program is a partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau and local organizations to provide efficient access to Census Bureau data products. CICs process and disseminate Census Bureau data to underserved populations in easily understandable formats. |
KAC is one of fifty-two non-profit organizations that serve as CICs across 22 states. The network is comprised of colleges and universities, research groups, minority chambers of commerce, tribal governments, and civil rights organizations serving children, elderly, low-income, immigrant, and minority populations.
Census data is used in areas such as program planning, advocacy, needs assessment, defining service areas, public policy development, developing new business enterprises, and conducting race/ ethnic-related research. CICs serve as repositories of Census data and reports, making Census information and data available to the communities they serve.

What do CICs do?
- Disseminate Census data
- Conduct research and analysis using Census data
- Retrieve data from the Census Bureau website and other Census sources
- Provide education and training to underserved, hard-to-count communities
- Assist the Census Bureau in developing appropriate data tools and promote participation in Census surveys
