National College Leadership Conference
The annual National College Leadership Conference is one of KAC's signature leadership programs. The conference educates students on current and past issues facing Korean Americans, fosters an appreciation of their roots and identity, and encourages them to engage in cross-ethnic cross-cultural community building. Attendees of the NCLC walk away from the program with a great deal of historical knowledge, new and exciting ideas for the community, and a valuable network of current and future leaders. NCLC endeavors to:
- Build awareness and knowledge of current and past issues confronting the Korean American community,
- Raise appreciation and understanding of Korean American cultural identity and roots, and learn and augment knowledge of Korean American history,
- Develop leadership skills, a sense of civic responsibility, and establish a solid foundation for future activism,
- and Strengthen community participation and effective involvement in civic, legislative, and community affairs.
NCLC has graduated over 900 college students in the last 25 years. Many former participants and counselors currently serve as community workers, volunteers, board members, organizers, and civic leaders, including Dartmouth President Jim Yong, the Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary for Governmental Affairs David S. Kim, and Democratic Candidate for Virginia House of Delegates Mark Keam.
Applications are accepted for the Conference on a rolling basis from January to May. The Conference occurs the last week of June.
The KAC National College Leadership Conference (NCLC) is made possible in part by generous support from State Farm Insurance Companies ®.
