Grace E. Yoo
Executive Director
Grace Yoo has served as the Executive Director of the Korean American Coalition - Los Angeles (KAC) since May 2005. As Executive Director, she interfaces with leaders of the Korean American community, the media, and California’s political leaders and community leaders, often bringing the various groups together to promote Korean American community interests. She is actively engaged with other communities of color to bring greater awareness of the needs of the Korean American community to the forefront.
Prior to joining KAC, she served as the Executive Director of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), this nation's only national bar association representing the interests of Asian Pacific American attorneys. Prior to serving as NAPABA’s Executive Director, she was in private practice, having been appointed by the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles to represent abused and neglected children.
For more than two decades she has been a volunteer for various political and civic organizations. Her passion to help her community be a better place to live has propelled her to be active in various aspects of community life over the years, such as being a driver for SAFE RIDES (driving drunk teenagers home), an AWANA (Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed) Leader, a founding member of the LAPD Olympic Booster Association Foundation, and active in professional legal organizations to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the law. In 2008, she was appointed by Mayor Antonio Villaraiagosa to serve on the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation Commission. She has also served as an Advisor to the LPGA since 2008.
Grace received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, where she received the Davis Commencement Award. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall Law School, where she was a recipient of the Center for Social Justice Commencement Award and the Juvenile Justice Commencement Award.
