KAC Admits Summer College Internship Program Class of 2009
KAC has accepted ten college undergraduates into its SCIP Class of 2009. The Internship Program was created twenty-four years ago to nurture a new generation of leaders for the Korean American community by not only offering promising students opportunities in mainstream jobs, but deep exposure to a shared history, to community organizing, and to the hands-on application of civic engagement strategies. Summer College Interns are placed in a variety of leading political, corporate, and media offices for the summer and spend a considerable number of hours working with KAC on a number of community projects.
This year's applicant pool was one of the strongest in recent years, and about a third of those who applied were offered admission into the program. The following students will begin their eight-week internship in June at a variety of offices, ranging from the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to local CBS and ABC stations:
Caroline Ahn, USC
Elaine Choi, Bryn Mawr College
Jinny Hwang, Haverford College
Diana Hyun, Cornell University
Barbra Kim, University of Chicago
Jessica Kim, University of Pennsylvania
LeeAnn Kim, UC San Diego
Simon Kwak, UC San Diego
Candice Nam, UC San Diego
Kang-Eun Seo, UC San Diego
Joanna Yim, Wellesley College
